The Icelanders are much deserving of congratulations: To achieve 100% energy independence is an astonishing (and probably unprecedented) feat by itself but, to do it TOTALLY with renewable energy sources is simply amazing.

Granted, the country has some natural advantages but, considering that fossil fuels were the "done thing" until just a few decades ago, it must have taken some considerable effort and dedication to completely change things to the extend they have. I hope they can capitalise on their expertise in the technology even more than suggested in the video (partnerships with American and French companies and institutions, etc.); they certainly deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

It's also refreshing to see a story like this from Iceland. If you listened to western media over the last 2 years or so, you'd think Iceland was a total basket-case altogether. As usual, the media puts the worst possible spin on everything; the reality would seem to be that Icelanders have their act together FAR more so than they very countries whose media outlets were/are busy accusing them of everything under the sun.
