UPS Adds to Green Fleet
Big Brown is adding to its green fleet.
United Parcel Service has rolled out 245 new natural gas trucks in Colorado and California and is now using more than 1,900 worldwide.
With an array of propane, electric, hybrid and natural gas vehicles, the package delivery service has one of the largest private alternative fuel fleets in the industry.
UPS' first electric vehicles hit the streets of New York in the 1930s.
The company uses what it calls a "rolling laboratory" approach to growth of its green fleet, employing several different kinds of vehicles, research and performance testing.
