De Boer Hopeful for Climate Deal in 2011
World leaders may have been disappointed with the outcome of the Copenhagen climate talks this past December, but Yvo de Boer, executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, says a climate deal is possible in 2011.
In an interview with EurActiv, de Boer said that the upcoming UN conference in Cancun this coming December needs to set the basis for a new climate change treaty in 2011.
This follows a new climate strategy announced by the European Commission last week to reinvigorate global climate talks after Copenhagen. The plan calls for a quick implementation of fast-track funding to developing countries and the closure of loopholes in the Kyoto Protocol.
De Boer says the first challenge for Cancun is to turn the Copenhagen Accord and other decisions that were near agreement in Copenhagen into a "functioning architecture." He says the European Union could play an instrumental role in moving the negotiations forward.

In order for the United
In order for the United Nations to succeed, they need to be able to see their temperature objectives and that has been the challenge. Although the world is designed with temperature, education of the world is blind to temperature.
We did several years of advanced temperature work to find the cause of urban heat islands and why they use so much energy responding to them. The results showed why building codes told us to look out for solar radiation on buildings. The solar interaction with building materials causes the building to generate extreme heat they aren't insulated for. Here is a link to infrared time-lapsed videos showing buildings being radiated right after sunrise. We are responding to the symptoms with massive emissions instead of paint, white wash or shade.
Do you know why areas of Europe or Bermuda white wash buildings? So they don't become urban heat islands and produce energy responding to symptoms.
